A picture frame doesn’t just enhance the image—it defines it by drawing attention to what matters, adding structure, and being artful in and of itself.

The same thing for communication. Your message will be interpreted by its framing.

Want to be perceived as confident? Frame your message in a way that signals how you value yourself:

  • “Excuse me...” → “May I have your attention?”

  • “Sorry to interrupt…” → “I have something important to add.”

  • “I think…” → “I know” or “I believe strongly…”

  • “Can I speak?” → “I’d like to share my thoughts.”

  • “I hope this works…” → “I am confident that…”

  • “I’ll try to get that done…” → “I will get it done.”

  • “Is that okay?” → “Does that work for you?”

  • “Maybe…” → “I’ve decided that...”

Acting small isn’t humility. These shifts show respect while also signaling your self-worth.
