What an engaged team really looks like
🔥⚠️💬 Warning: This tip may cause better conversations. Side effects increase in our community.
We throw around the word “engaged” a lot when we talk about teams. But what does it actually mean?
For me, an engaged team isn’t about being present, responsive, or even enthusiastic.
It’s when everyone is willing to go there, to withstand the heat of the cauldron and be poured out pure.
When a team is willing to have the hard conversation, to disagree (even passionately), to speak up without fear of reprisal, it means they trust each other.
Productive conflict lies somewhere between artificial harmony and ego-driven clashes. It’s about the issues, not the personalities.
And when they can recover when the conversation gets messy, their mettle grows even stronger.
We know this from our personal lives. When we can repair, bonds grow.
Want to know if your team is truly engaged? Don’t just look at participation. Look at courage.
Who’s willing to disagree in a way that’s heard?
Who isn’t brave enough to say, “I see it differently”? What might they need to do so?
The cauldron is strong enough to hold the heat.
