Communicate a decision
Dec 05, 2022
Ever spent energy getting buyin around a decision, only to botch the way it’s communicated to people it affects?
To keep people in the loop, Gino Wickman recommends a “solution statement,” which can be written, verbal, or both.
A solution statement might look like this:
“Nicole will meet with John and discuss his replacement. She’ll offer him a transfer to another position, and if he doesn’t take it, we’ll make him available to industry.”
Clear, easy, and simple.
- Clearly articulate what the decision is.
- Tell who owns its implementation (only one person).
- Share clear next steps.
Try it out and let me know how it goes.
