Words to use

Yesterday’s Daily Tip discussed words to lose because they make you seem less confident. Today, let’s look at words that make you seem more confident…words to use.

Amplifiers

Amplifiers boost or emphasize other words, words like very, greater, more, etc. They lift and grow other words.

"The women I had as very close friends were very independent women, very progressive. They're very sensitive about social change." —Toni Morrison

Self-agency

When we reside in our own power, we appear stronger.

  • I’m a quick learner.

  • My strength is…

  • My co-workers say…

  • I’m the person who’s known for…

Don’t want to boast? You can reside in the power of “we” as in “Our strength is…”

Validators

Validators show you’re listening, and listening says “You’re important to me.”

  • Is that OK?

  • Know what I mean?

  • See what I’m saying?

  • Does that make sense?

  • Do you have any questions?

  • Do I need to clarify anything?

  • What are your thoughts?

  • How is this landing with you?

Thanks for reading. Do you have any feedback for me?
