Still working remotely? Communicate more.

It’s Friday, let’s keep it short.

Even if we do return to our offices soon, many of us will remain remote, and communication through screens has become too commonplace to go back to 100% in-person offices.

During times of transition -- and we seem to be in transition these days -- no amount of communication is too much.

A good rule is to communicate three times more often with remote employees as you do in person.

For example, if your usual practice is to update your team on a Monday-morning call, consider changing that to a Monday, Wednesday, Friday morning call.

Increase your one-on-ones. Have quick video calls in place of email or chat. Get in that face time, however you can.

You can be regimented by limiting meeting time, sticking to an agenda, and moving the conversation along, but giving a team more “virtual face time” may be needed to build and sustain strong working relationships.

Have a good weekend.
