Check in before venting

Sometimes we just need to vent. To dump it all out. To blast someone, complain, and GO OFF. It relieves stress and helps us process. But, before you vomit all your frustrations on someone, you may want to check in with THEM, to make sure they’re ready and willing. Here are some ways you can start:

  • Do you have 10 minutes? I need to vent.
  • Are you free? I need to talk to someone.
  • I need some support. Can I complain to you?
  • I had a rough day. Can I share?

By letting them know what’s coming, you may just get a better listening partner.
