Don’t compromise, communicate.

In a recent productive conflict communication workshop, I was asked, “Shouldn’t we just compromise?”

I had to think about that.

“No,” I said.

We’re not here to create solutions where both sides leave feeling as if they didn’t get what they needed.

We’re here to learn skills to remain in dialogue long enough to figure out the best solution.

Don’t compromise, communicate.
